Real Estate Broker - In order to qualify as a Broker, an individual must have been a sales associate for minimum of three years, completed a 60-hour Broker's Pre-license Course at a school approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission and pass a comprehensive exam administered or approved by the Commission. Term is also generally used to denote that the individual is acting as managing broker for the firm. Associate Real Estate Broker - Same credential as the Real Estate Broker, but is not managing broker of the firm. REALTOR® - REALTORS® are part of a nationally recognized professional trade association called the "National Association of REALTORS®". In order to use the coveted REALTOR® logo, members must subscribe and adhere to a strict code of ethics. ABR - The Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR®) designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation is awarded to real estate practitioners by the Real Estate BUYER'S AGENT Council ("REBAC") of the National Association of REALTORS® who meet the specified educational and practical experience criteria. GRI – The Graduate REALTOR® Institute
designation is awarded by the Georgia Association of REALTORS® to
REALTORS® who complete 90 hours of classroom instruction and pass examinations
covering subjects such as contract law, professional standards, sales and
marketing, finance and risk reduction. Courses
are taught by leading real estate instructors from around the country. Individuals completing the program learn the fundamentals
of brokerage and other areas of real estate specialization allowing them to
better serve prospective clients and customers. The Institute is designed to educate practitioners about
local, state and national real estate practices that affect them, their clients
and customers. The designation indicates to the public that the individual
has obtained a professional educational foundation on which to base the services
they provide. Only members of the REALTOR® organization may earn the Graduate REALTOR® Institute designation. Twelve percent of Georgia Association of REALTORS® membership has earned the designation and only 28 percent of the National Association of REALTORS® Membership holds the designation. SRES - REALTORS® with the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation help seniors make wise decisions about selling the family home, buying rental property or managing the capital gains and tax implications of owning real estate. By earning the “SRES” designation, the REALTOR® has demonstrated that they have the requisite knowledge, experience and expertise to be a senior’s real estate specialist and counselor.
